Film Resource Unit (FRU), in collaboration with the Johannesburg World Summit Company, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and various other stakeholders from government, corporate and civil society across South Africa and internationally, will host the World Summit Film Festival and Audiovisual Education Campaign as part of the cultural programme for the world summit on sustainable development to be held in Johannesburg from 18 August to 3 September 2002.

The ten-day event of screenings, workshops and discussions will take place at various venues in and around Johannesburg.

FRU is calling for films that articulate and or are relevant to the Sustainable Development issues. If you are interested in participating, the closing date for submitting your films is 15 June.


The following requirements apply to submissions: VHS copy of the film; Synopsis of the film; Key Cast and Crew list; Information or Rights for public screening (FRU will pay where necessary)


FRU will pay for the freight and courier costs of prints and tapes should your film be selected. A selection panel will be making the final choice of films.
