Dans sa quatrième édition, du 6 au 12 mai 2022, Gabes Cinéma Fen propose une programmation riche axée sur l’univers du cinéma et des voyages esthétiques qui vont à l’encontre des idées reçues. Le festival se déroule chaque année dans une ville confrontée à des enjeux environnementaux, économiques et culturels.
A Gabes Cinéma Fen, la réalité virtuelle est un pont entre découvertes, rêves et imaginaires qui relient le film, l’image, le son et la technologie. Lors de la quatrième édition, nous allons projeter 9 films des 4 continents ainsi que « 7 Grames » de Karim Ben khalifa, tout en poursuivant notre projet de Hackathon de réalité virtuelle, un projet ouvert aux étudiants de l’Ecole Supérieure des Arts et Métiers.
Les expressions artistiques contemporaines sont présentes dans la section art vidéo, cette année sous la direction de l’homme de théâtre et plasticien libanais Rabih Mroué. Cette section interroge « La vie sans images » à travers 14 œuvres de 12 artistes visuels venus de 8 pays différents. Quant au K-OFF, sous la direction de la commissaire tunisienne Kenza Jammeli, continue de soutenir les artistes tunisiens, tunisiennes, émergents (es). La section art Vidéo comprend aussi une master-class portant sur les techniques du vidéo clip et une performance musicale « Satour-NE » de « Nuri » et Al Issaouia, une immersion entre chants soufis et l’enthousiasme des rythmes électroniques.
Dans un souci de questionner et d’interpeller la mémoire collective de la ville, Gabes Cinéma Fen organise une exposition sur l’histoire du football dans la région. L’aventure a un côté nostalgique et sera accueilli par l’espace « L’agora », qui présente les archives des « gabsiens-iennes » : joueurs, footballeurs et supporters qui se remémorent les sensations fortes apportées par la passion du foot à travers photos, chansons et textes… Gabès Cinéma Fen est une compétition de film exclusivement réservée au cinéma arabe; un choix délibéré et assumé qui défend un cinéma d’auteur, alternatif, questionnant les problématiques de la région, son identité, l’image qu’il donne et l’image qu’on lui attribue. Parallèlement à la compétition o cielle de la section cinéma, le public de Gabes Cinéma Fen aura l’occasion de découvrir dans les différentes sections parallèles du festival des nouveautés, des exclusivités et des regards croisés.
En séance spéciale le film de Hala Alabdalla ou elle pose un regard sur le cinéaste Omar Amiralay, son œuvre, la Syrie, sa mère et ce qui les lie. Et la première œuvre de Dhafer Labidine « Ghodwa » sera aussi un rendez-vous attendu.
La marraine du festival Hend Sabri propose au public du festival un moment privilégié en l’invitant à la redécouverte de deux films fondateurs du cinéma arabe. #Ta3ala_Chouf avec Hend Sabri, « La terre » de Youssef Chahine et « Al Bidaya » de Salah Abu Seif à travers des œuvres cinématographiques, cette quatrième édition de Gabès Cinéma Fen ouvre de nouveau une fenêtre sur le monde, pose des problématiques écologiques et tend la main à un « Cinéma Promesse ». Aux enfants aussi leurs part du festival avec une programmation qui leur est réservée.
La rétrospective consacrée au cinéaste libanais « Ghassen Salhab » est également une pierre angulaire de cette édition à travers la projection et l’analyse de l’ensemble de sa filmographie.

In its fourth session, from 6 to 12 May 2022, GABES CINEMA FEN offers a rich programme centered on the world of cinema and aesthetic journeys that go against the grain. The festival takes place each year in a city facing environmental, economic and cultural challenges.
At GABES CINEMA FEN, virtual reality is a bridge between discovery, dreams and imagination that links film, image, sound and modern technology. In the fourth session, we will screen 9 films from 4 continents as well as « 7 Grams » by Karim Ben Khelifa, while continuing our virtual reality hackathon project with students from the Ecole Supérieure des Arts et Métiers.
Contemporary artistic expressions are present in the video art section. This year, it will take place under the direction of the Lebanese theater artist and visual artist Rabih Mroué. Through this event, we question « Life without images », with 11 visual artists from 8 countries who will participate in the video art programme with 13 works, inviting reflections on Muslim women and issues of self.
Under the direction of Tunisian curator Kenza Jammeli, the second edition of « K OFF » continues to support emerging Tunisian artists. On the programme of the video art section, a Master Class on music video techniques and a musical performance « Satour-N » by « Nuri » and Al Issaouia, an immersion in Sufi chants mix with the energy and enthusiasm of electronic rhythms.
In terms of setting and interaction with the public, GABES CINEMA FEN opens the doors to the city’s collective memory by organizing an exhibition on the history of football in the region. The adventure has a nostalgic side and will be hosted by the space « L’Agora », which presents the archives of « Gabsians »; players, footballers and supporters who support the team and memorize their feelings in the form of photos, songs, texts…
The official competition of GABES CINEMA FEN revolves entirely around Arab cinema: feature films and short films, documentaries and experimental works. It is a choice that defends auteur cinema and supports the different genres and aesthetic visions of Arab filmmakers. In parallel, special screenings of Hala Abdallah’s film about her relationship with director Omar Amiralay and « Ghodwa » by Dhafer L’Abidine.
Two films by the pioneers of Arab cinema, Youssef Chahine’s « The Land » and Salah Abu Seif’s « The Beginning » will be screened at the new « TAALA CHOUF » event. Chosen by Hend Sabri, the honorary president of GABES CINEMA FEN, they will be screened to students at the Faculty of Science in Gabès in the presence of Hend Sabri.
In its fourth session, GABES CINEMA FEN has consolidated its challenges and renews the date with a programme of films from all over the world, works on the Earth and its urgent issues, promising films, films for children and a retrospective of the Lebanese director Ghassan Salhab.
