Abdelkader Abdi, designer depuis plus de quarante ans, diplômé des Beaux-Arts d’Alger et des Arts Décoratifs de Paris, lauréat dès ses débuts, en 1981, du SM d’argent au Salon du Meuble de Paris, Abdi a gagné une reconnaissance internationale, notamment depuis sa rencontre déterminante, au début des années 1990, avec le maestro italien Alessandro Mendini, à l’invitation duquel il collaborera à plusieurs reprises.
Abdelkader Abdi vient partager aujourd’hui son univers poétique et métissé en une exposition inédite au Centre Culturel Algérien. Conçue comme une installation, cette exposition dévoile un ensemble de peintures, verreries, céramiques…, fruits d’une inspiration sans cesse renouvelée dans la recherche et l’expérimentation des formes et des couleurs. Dans cet ensemble, des pièces éditées chez Bisazza, CIAV Meisenthal, Cinna, Daum… ainsi que le couscoussier Alessi.

Abdelkader Abdi, designer for more than forty years, graduate of the Fine Arts of Algiers and the Decorative Arts of Paris, winner from his beginnings, in 1981, of the Silver SM at the Paris Furniture Fair, Abdi has won recognition internationally, particularly since his decisive meeting, in the early 1990s, with the Italian maestro Alessandro Mendini, at whose invitation he collaborated on several occasions.
Abdelkader Abdi comes today to share his poetic and mixed universe in a unique exhibition at the Algerian Cultural Center. Conceived as an installation, this exhibition reveals a set of paintings, glassworks, ceramics, etc., the fruit of constantly renewed inspiration in the research and experimentation of shapes and colors. In this set, pieces published by Bisazza, CIAV Meisenthal, Cinna, Daum… as well as the couscous maker Alessi.
