Des récits sur le passage à l'âge adulte et des portraits de villes dynamiques en pleine transition sont au cœur du Festival du film africain de cette année, qui propose également la projection de la nouvelle version restaurée en 4K du film Compensation (1999) de Zeinabu Irene Davis, "un film emblématique du cinéma indépendant américain qui aborde les forces sociales et les préjugés qui entravent l'amour" (Janus Films). Comme toujours, cette série offre des visions de toute l'Afrique et de sa diaspora mondiale, des côtes pittoresques du Kenya aux paysages urbains animés de Lagos et de Cayenne, en Guyane française, au Mali et à Chicago. Elle trouve même le temps de faire une
escale dans un New York et un Maroc imaginaires, où des chacals parlent et résolvent leurs problèmes mère/fille dans l'œuvre d'animation merveilleusement imaginative Bouchra.

Coming-of-age stories and portraits of dynamic cities in transition anchor this year's African Film Festival, which also features a screening of the new 4K digital restoration of Zeinabu irene Davis's Compensation (1999), "a landmark of American independent cinema that confronts the social forces and prejudices that hinder love" (Janus Films). As always, this series offers visions from across Africa and its global diaspora, from the scenic coasts of Kenya to the vibrant cityscapes of Lagos and Cayenne, French Guiana, Mali, and Chicago. It even finds time for a stopover in an imaginary New York and Morocco, where jackals talk and work through their mother/daughter issues in the wonderfully imaginative animated work Bouchra.
