Synopsis L’histoire d’une coopération internationale à l’écoute de besoins vitaux locaux. Tharaka-Nithi County, Kenya.

Synopsis
The story of international cooperation that listens to vital local needs.
Tharaka-Nithi County, Kenya. A semi-arid region where predominantly women till, cultivate and irrigate the country's rare arable land.
The fruit of their labour feeds men, women and children. Yet in Tharaka-Nithi, the rains — source of irrigation and life — arrive later and later, and leave earlier and earlier. Harvests dwindle, vulnerability takes hold, even as agriculture accounts for a third of Kenya's GDP and employs nearly half of its population.
In August 2026, the International Year of Women Farmers, NGO The Era of Africa and its partners — Fondation Groupe EDF, SunCulture and PAFID — mobilise on the ground to launch Phase 1 of the Green Up Kenya project.
In eight days, 30 solar-powered irrigation pumps are installed. Water flows across these plots of land, and the women farmers rejoice.
This documentary, which retraces the project, gives voice to these women who sow the seeds of lasting change and reap the fruits of a cooperation that places them at its heart.
