The SACOD Forum 2002 will take place at Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe from the 21st – 25th of October.
About sixty film and television professionals, journalists, academics, government officials and representatives of various non-governmental organizations are expected to attend this year’s forum.
This number includes 48 SACOD members drawn from Lesotho, Swaziland, South Africa, Namibia, Mozambique, Zambia, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Angola, Botswana and representatives of various organisations.
Invitations have also been extended to the National Film & Video Foundation (NFVF), Sithengi, SABC 2, ICASA, African Script Development Fund, SABA, Article 19 and MISA.
Some of the activities will include screening of selected films and training workshops. A total of about 30 films will be entered for selection this year. These films will be closely scrutinised by the audience.
The discussions will therefore emanate from the content of the films and questions arising from the floor directed to the producers and directors of the films beings screened.
Facilitating the Forum will be Prof. Bheki Peterson (South Africa), Mr. Ebbe Preisler (Denmark), Lynne Muthoni Wanyeka (Kenya) and Toni Strasburg (South Africa).
Prof. Keyan Tomaselli from the University of Natal will once again evaluate the Forum and a Report of the proceedings will be published.

FORUM 2002
The SACOD Forum 2002, will take place from 21 – 25 October 2002 at Victoria Falls. This is a call for entries for completed films and videos, of any length, produced after 1st January 2000 that support that seek to communicate social messages.
The SACOD Forum is a meeting place where filmmakers, distributors, and related organisations, gather to screen and debate selected film and video productions. The objective of Forum is to enable Directors in the Southern Africa region to make more effective programmes on social issues. The themes cover social, political and developmental issues with the intention to inform, educate, entertain and importantly, to motivate and stimulate audiences to take action in a personal or organised way. The ultimate goal is to make programmes that will be better tools for social change.
REGULATIONS:
1. You may submit more than one programme, of any length and any genre.
2. Entries will only be selected if the director / producer’s able to attend the SACOD Forum.
3. Should your programme be selected, SACOD will cover the cost of the attendance of the director or producer only, at Forum 2002
4. Your entry will be viewed by an appointed Forum Selection Committee, and you will be notified of the outcome.
5. Should your entry be selected, it will be included in the screening and discussion section of Forum 2002.
6. Entries made in languages other than English must have English subtitles.
Preview tapes without subtitles will only be accepted if accompanied by an English or Portuguese script.
7. All entries should be submitted on VHS, PAL.
8. All entries must be sent to the SACOD office by registered airmail or pre-paid courier.
9. SACOD will not pay freight or customs charges for entries.
10. Deadline for Entries is the 22 August 2002. No late entries will be considered.
11. SACOD will not be held liable for any loss or damage to the submitted material.
12. Directors/Producers must be a citizen of a SADC country i.e.: Seychelles, Mauritius, Democratic Republic of Congo, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Angola, Mozambique, Namibia, Botswana, Lesotho, Swaziland and Malawi.
13. SACOD encourages young /emerging filmmakers to submit their works.
14. SACOD reserves the right to use the selected videos for future training projects.
15. All matters not resolved by these regulations shall be decided upon by SACOD, whose decision will be final.
16. The return of the enclosed application form, for participation in Forum 2002, will be confirmation of your acceptance of these regulations.
