La grande forêt équatoriale africaine est le royaume des Pygmées Baka du Cameroun qui apprennent, dès l'enfance, à la connaître et à la respecter car leur vie entière en est tributaire. Cependant, l'industrie du bois se porte bien et on entend gronder les moteurs des tronçonneuses. C'est la troisième activité économique du Cameroun et des régions entières en dépendent. Malgré l'abattage, la forêt équatoriale continue d'avancer. Toutefois, des essences de bois risquent de disparaître. Le film est émaillé des commentaires d'exploitants forestiers mais aussi de chercheurs et pose la question de l'avenir de la forêt équatoriale et de ses habitants.

The great African equatorial forest is the kingdom of the Baka pygmies of Cameroon who learn to know and respect it from childhood because their whole life depends on it. However, the timber industry is going strong and the forest echoes to the sound of chainsaws. Timber is the third most important activity in Cameroon and whole regions depend on it. In spite of the felling, the equatorial forest is continuing to spread. However, certain tree species may disappear. The film is dotted with comments by loggers and also by researchers and raises the question of the future of the equatorial forest and its inhabitants.
