Un Peuple En Marche fait un bilan de la guerre d'Algérie en retraçant l'histoire de l'ALN et montre l'effort populaire de reconstruction du pays, après l'indépendance. Sous l'égide de René Vautier, directeur du Centre Audiovisuel d'Alger, de jeunes cinéastes algériens braquent librement leurs caméras sur le passé, le présent et aussi l'avenir qu'ils rêvent pour l'Algérie. Ils bâtissent l'image d'un peuple en marche. Des espoirs nourris de socialisme. Une Algérie nouvelle, libérée du joug du colonisateur, en marche vers l'avenir et la reconstruction.
