Ce portrait de Norman Catherine (né en 1949), étonnant artiste sud-africain, à la fois surréaliste et caustique, qui a vivement critiqué le régime de l’apartheid et participé à la promotion des artiste noirs, s’attache à ses expériences de jeunesse. L’artiste présente un cursus créatif éclectique, excellant aussi bien dans la sculpture que dans la peinture, le dessin, l’illustration et même la tapisserie.

A portrait of Norman Catherine’s early life via animation, live action and stock footage, his early youthful experience from birth through to his teenage years. The events that formed the artist’s formative years – such as swallowing mothballs thinking they were sweets – are portrayed against the corresponding backdrop of world events and apartheid South Africa.
