Le quotidien de la vie d'un Algérien à travers le regard de Bachir, jeune homme de 25 ans, résident du quartier populaire de Sidi-Bel-Abbès. Bachir guette tous les matins le passage du facteur. La réponse de son visa pour la France tarde à venir. Il s'ennuie, tourne en rond… C'est le vide total. Mais une rumeur vient bientôt combler son ennui : elle porte sur l'éventualité d'un changement dans la répartition des jours de la semaine. Le week-end du samedi-dimanche, norme française, occidentale et chrétienne, devrait se substituer au week-end du jeudi-vendredi, la norme musulmane… Réalisateur : Mohamed Latrèche CRITIQUE Quelque part en Algérie, Bachir, un jeune homme, attend. Qui, quoi ? le sait- il lui même… L'attente n'est peut-être qu'un prétexte pour meubler une vie un peu trop vide, un temps un peu trop long. Alors pour peupler l'ennui, tromper le silence il y a l'oiseau qu'on nourrit, la rumeur qu'on poursuit, prétextes dérisoires à rencontrer l'autre, les autres, à encore appartenir au monde ou s'en donner l'illusion… " Rumeur, etc. " est une douce méditation sur l'ennui au son mélancolique d'" En attendant Godot ", tant les petits détails qui hantent l'esprit de Bachir flirtent parfois avec l'absurde. Le spectateur lui se laisse nonchalamment embarquer sur ce bateau de papier, cherchant des accroches symboliques pour, à son tour, tel un Bachir désœuvré donner du sens au paysage esquissé. Et tout en se questionnant sur l'oiseau qui a délibérément pris le chemin de la cage, il ne sent pas l'embarcation prendre l'eau pour, doucement, l'entraîner dans les dérives aveugles d'une existence sans but, la sienne peut-être s'il n'y prend pas garde. Ce prometteur premier court métrage de Mohammed Latrèche a été produit par Gindou Cinéma, suite à un concours de scénarios, dans le cadre de l'opération " 5 films pour l'Algérie 2003 ". Who, what? He knows it himself… Waiting is perhaps only a pretext to furnish a life a little too empty, a little too long. So to populate the boredom, to deceive the silence there is the bird that one feeds, the rumor that one pursues, derisory pretexts to meet the other, the others, to still belong to the world or to give oneself the illusion of it…". Rumour, etc. Rumour, etc." is a gentle meditation on boredom to the melancholy sound of "Waiting for Godot", so many small details that haunt the spirit of Bashir sometimes flirt with the absurd. The spectator nonchalantly allows himself to be embarked on this paper boat, looking for symbolic catchphrases to, in turn, like an idle Bashir, give meaning to the sketched landscape. And while questioning himself about the bird that has deliberately taken the path of the cage, he does not feel the boat taking on water to gently drag him into the blind drifts of a purposeless existence, his own perhaps if he is not careful. This promising first short film by Mohammed Latrèche was produced by Gindou Cinéma, following a screenplay competition, as part of the "5 films for Algeria 2003" operation.
