Une plongée au plus profond du quotidien des Microbes, ces enfants des rues d’Abidjan qui ont perdu tout repère et commettent en bande organisée de violentes agressions sur la population.
Chaka (13 ans) est le deuxième enfant d’une famille pauvre de Yopougon (quartier populaire du nord d’Abidjan), dont le père (Cissé) s’est fait renvoyer injustement de son boulot de directeur de publication du quotidien gouvernemental (Matins d’Abidjan) après la crise post-électorale de 2011. Sa mère (Khadija), commerçante installée sur le domaine publique, est délogée comme plusieurs autres commerçants. Cette situation crée une tension entre son père et sa mère qui devient vite insupportable. Chaka et sa grande sœur Hadjara (15 ans) décident de quitter le domicile familial pour s’installer chez un grand cousin à Abobo. Hadjara, avec l’aide de son cousin, devient apprentie Gbaka (mini-car de transport populaire) dans une gare routière, tandis que Chaka erre… Son meilleur ami Timo (15 ans) arrive non sans mal à lui faire intégrer sa bande de Microbes dirigée par Kouess (17 ans). Hadjara fait tout pour empêcher son frère d’intégrer cette bande de voyous en l’emmenant rencontrer Myriam (35 ans), la directrice d’un centre de réinsertion pour les jeunes désœuvrés. Mais Chaka, en perte totale de repère, est mû par la volonté de « suppléer » son père qui n’arrive plus à nourrir sa famille et par la tentation d’être un caïd respecté du quartier. Très rapidement il gagne l’estime de Kouess par sa bravoure et son audace lors de leurs virées de vandalisme et de ratonnade. Néanmoins étant le dernier arrivé, il doit subir les brimades et autres bizutages des membres de la bande, y compris des plus jeunes. Mais Chaka qui ambitionne d’être lui-même un caïd décide de quitter la bande… Il profite d’un cambriolage qui se déroule mal, pour disparaitre avec une somme d’un million de FCFA… Pour se cacher, il décide d’aller voir Myriam et de feindre de vouloir se tenir loin de la rue… rue… Le temps de former sa propre bande de microbes.

A dive into the daily life of the Microbes, these street children in Abidjan, who lost their bearings and attack the population in roving bands.
Chaka (13 years old) is the second child of a poor family in Yopougon (a popular neighborhood in northern Abidjan), whose father (Cissé) was unfairly fired from his job as a publication manager at the government-run daily newspapers (Matins d’Abidjan) after the post-electoral crisis in 2011.
His mother (Khadija), a storekeeper installed in the public domain, is driven out like several other storekeepers. This situation creates tension between his father and his mother, which soon becomes unbearable. Chaka and his older sister Hadjara (15 years old) decide to leave their family and move in at their older cousin’s in Abobo.
With the help of her cousin, Hadjara becomes a Gbaka apprentice (Gbaka are local minivans) in a train station, while Chaka wanders…
After many efforts, Chaka’s best friend Timo (15 years old) manages to have him join a gang of Microbes, led by Kouess (17 years old). Hadjara does everything she can to keep her brother away from the gang and sends him to see Myriam (35 years old), the director of a reinsertion center for young idlers.
But a totally disoriented Charka is driven by his desire to « replace » his father, who can’t make ends meet, and by the temptation to become a well-respected thug in the neighborhood.
Very quickly, he win’s Kouess’ respect thanks to his bravery and boldness during their street attacks.
However, as a newcomer in the gang, he is the victim of hazing and bullying by other gang members, including the youngest ones.
But Chaka, who aims at becoming a thug on his own, decides to leave the gang… During a burglary that doesn’t go as planned, he escapes, stealing a million CFA francs.
In order to hide, he decides to go see Myriam and pretends he wants to give up on being a thug. Meanwhile, he starts his own gang of microbes…
