Jean de Dieu est le meilleur musicien du monde… dans sa propre tête. Lorsque Brandon, un cinéaste, est envoyé à Kinshasa, RD Congo de faire un documentaire sur Jean de Dieu, ce n’est pas exactement ce qu’il attendait.

Le film commence à New-York lorsque Brandon, un cameraman qui rêve de devenir réalisateur, reçoit un appel qui semble très important : il doit se rendre à Kinshasa pour réaliser un documentaire sur Jean de Dieu, la star musicale numéro 1 en RDC. Le problème est que Jean de Dieu est un narcissique exacerbé qui ne se laisse pas filmer facilement et qui de plus cache un secret…
