Depuis quarante ans, le photographe Sebastião Salgado parcourt les continents sur les traces d’une humanité en pleine mutation. Alors qu’il a témoigné des événements majeurs qui ont marqué notre histoire récente - conflits internationaux, famine, exode – il se lance à présent à la découverte de territoires vierges aux paysages grandioses, à la rencontre d’une faune et d’une flore sauvages, dans un gigantesque projet photographique, hommage à la beauté de la planète. Sa vie et son travail nous sont révélés par les regards croisés de son fils, Juliano, qui l’a accompagné dans ses derniers périples, et de Wim Wenders, lui-même photographe.

Salt of the Earth (The)
During the last forty years, the photographer Sebastião Salgado has been travelling through the continents, in the footsteps of an ever changing humanity. He has witnessed the major events of our recent history ; international conflicts, starvations and exodus… He is now embarking on the discovery of pristine territories, of the wild fauna and flora, of grandiose landscapes : a huge photographic project which is a tribute to the planet’s beauty.
Sebastião’s Salgado’s life and work are revealed to us by his son, Juliano, who went with him during his last journeys, and by Wim Wenders, a photographer himself.
