L’homosexualité reste un sujet délicat sur le continent africain. S’agit-il d’une abomination, d’un péché, d’une pratique importée d’Occident ou d’une orientation naturelle ? De Yaoundé à Douala, en passant par Abidjan et Dakar, ce documentaire d’investigation réalisé par deux cinéastes du Burkina Faso pose les bases d’un enjeu fondamental pour les sociétés africaines. Centrant leur enquête sur trois pays, Cameroun, Côte-d’Ivoire et Sénégal, les réalisateurs recueillent les témoignages d’avocat·e·s, de représentant·e·s d’associations, de chefs religieux ou encore de sportif·ve·s de haut niveau… L’homophobie continue à s’exprimer violemment en Afrique, mais des motifs d’espoir se font jour. De plus en plus de locaux s’engagent pour changer la vision sociétale de l’homosexualité masculine et féminine et oeuvrent à une amélioration des droits LGBT+. Un état des lieux nécessaire et instructif pour ce documentaire militant vecteur de messages constructifs en faveur des droits humains en Afrique. La projection sera suivie d’une rencontre avec Benjamin Gonnord, universitaire français spécialiste de la Côte d’Ivoire, et Malika Anzoua, activiste ivoirienne vivant depuis peu en France.

From Yaoundé to Douala, via Abidjan and Dakar, this investigative documentary by two filmmakers from Burkina Faso lays the foundations of a fundamental issue for African societies. Focusing on three countries, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire and Senegal, the filmmakers collect the testimonies of lawyers, representatives of associations, religious leaders and high-level sportsmen and women… Homophobia continues to express itself violently in Africa, but there are grounds for hope. More and more locals are committed to changing the societal view of male and female homosexuality and are working to improve LGBT+ rights. A necessary and instructive overview for this activist documentary that conveys constructive messages in favour of human rights in Africa. The screening will be followed by a meeting with Benjamin Gonnord, a French academic specialising in Côte d’Ivoire, and Malika Anzoua, an Ivorian activist recently living in France.
