Vingt-cinq ans après le coup d’Etat qui l’a renversé, Ahmed ben Bella retrouve l’Algérie. Autour de lui se cristallise la situation d’attente du pays. L’Algérie vit le moment fragile de la naissance d’une démocratie où la liberté de ton des citoyens contraste avec l’écho médiatique de la montée de l’islam. Crise économique, mise en doute des hommes politiques, le film révèle un peuple en pleine mutation culturelle, à la recherche d’une voie qui lui soit propre.

Twenty five years after the coup that overthrew him, Ahmed ben Bella goes back to Algeria. All around him, the country’s waiting situation is crystallizing.  Algeria is experiencing the fragile birth of a democracy where the citizens’ freedom of speech contrasts with the media coverage regarding the rise of Islam. Portraying the economic crisis and doubts about the politicians, this movie reveals a population in the midst of a cultural transformation, looking for a path that will fit them.
