Director Statement

I am Liesl Ahlers, a 26-year-old female South African citizen, I am the Director of Daylight: an important South African Awareness film.

I decided to write and personally fund Daylight because; I felt the need to create both local and global awareness concerning the devastating HIV/AIDS epidemic in my country.

In South Africa the HIV/AIDS epidemic destroy and negatively impact the lives of all especially our children. Former South African President Nelson Mandela once said: « Children are our greatest treasure, they are our future ».

Daylight shares the story of this heart-breaking epidemic from the perspective of a six-year-old boy. It encourages the viewer to take a new perspective on the epidemic and its devastating effect on our world, our children, and ultimately our future…
