Juste au moment où vous pensiez que toutes les histoires américaines sur la Seconde Guerre mondiale avaient été racontées, voici le 6888 Central Postal Directory Battalion (The SixTripleEight), la seule unité féminine entièrement noire à avoir servi en Europe pendant la guerre. Elles ont accompli cette tâche énorme en six mois en distribuant plus de 17 millions de pièces de courrier.  Leur histoire était jusqu’à présent cachée dans l’histoire militaire américaine. Le 30 novembre 2018, un monument a été inauguré en leur honneur au Buffalo Soldier Park, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. Le 20 février 2019, le Secrétaire de l’Armée a approuvé la Meritorious Unit Commendation pour le 6888e Bataillon du Central Postal Directory pour la période de service du 4 mars 1945 au 30 mars 1946. Le 28 février 2019, le sénateur Jerry Moran a présenté un projet de loi, le Six Triple Eight Congressional Gold Medal Act of 2019, pour que l’unité reçoive la plus haute récompense civile de la nation. Le 19 mai 2019, l’ambassadeur américain Robert Wood Johnson a dédié une plaque aux femmes de l’école King Edward à Birmingham, en Angleterre, où les femmes étaient stationnées en 1945. Le 27 mai 2019, trois femmes des SixTripleHuit, Maybelle Campbell, Delores L. Ruddock et Indiana Hunt Martin, ont servi en tant que Grand Marshals de la parade du Memorial Day de Washington D.C. Le film a été projeté devant un public enthousiaste dans tout le Royaume-Uni, du 13 au 17 mai 2019. Just when you thought every American story about World War II had been told, along comes the 6888 Central Postal Directory Battalion (The SixTripleEight), the only all-black female unit to serve in Europe during the war. Led by the highest-ranking black female in the Army, they faced racism, sexism, and the Nazis.The documentary includes interviews with the surviving seven members of the 855 women of the SixTripleEight.  Their mission was to clear the backlog of mail stuck in warehouses in Birmingham, England and Rouen, France. They completed this enormous task in six months distributing over 17 million pieces of mail.  Their story was hidden in American military history until now. On November 30, 2018, a monument was dedicated in their honor at Buffalo Soldier Park, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. On February 20, 2019, the Secretary of the Army approved the Meritorious Unit Commendation for the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion for the period of service March 4, 1945 to March 30, 1946. On February 28, 2019, Sen.
