La jeune sœur d’Aisha, Zainab, se marie. Les préparatifs traditionnels sont entrepris dans le village de la région rurale de Borno par la famille des sœurs laitières et celle de son fiancé agriculteur, Haruna. Le jour arrive, l’union est scellée. Mais les perspectives d’un avenir radieux pour le nouveau couple sont violemment anéanties lorsque des insurgés frappent en plein milieu de la réception de mariage. Après le carnage et les séparations forcées qui s’ensuivent, les sœurs sont enlevées avec d’autres villageois et emmenées à la base des insurgés, à la périphérie d’une ville isolée.

Aisha’s younger sister, Zainab, is getting married. Traditional preparations are undertaken in the local village in rural Borno by the family of the milkmaid sisters and that of her farmer fiancé, Haruna. The day arrives, the union is sealed. But prospects of a bright future together for the new couple are violently dashed when insurgents strike right in the middle of the wedding reception. After the ensuing carnage and forced separations, the sisters are abducted along with other villagers and taken to the base of the insurgents on the outskirts of a remote town.
