LUNTANGO signifie « étranger ». C’est le sentiment qui habite en permanence Muhammed, originaire de la région de Sénégambie et vivant depuis 10 ans en Allemagne. Au sein de sa famille et pour ses amis en Afrique de l’Ouest, il est considéré comme un Européen. En Allemagne, on lui demande quand est-ce qu’il compte rentrer chez lui. Par le biais de la photographie, l’activiste tente d’exprimer ce que cela signifie aujourd’hui d’être Noir, en exil et migrant.

LUNTANGO means ‘stranger’, and Muhammed, who comes from the Senegambia region and has been living in Germany for 10 years, feels like one no matter where he is: His family and friends in West Africa see him as European, in Germany he is constantly being asked when he will return home. The activist uses photography to try and express what it means to be Black, on the run, and a migrant in today’s world.

Muhammed feels like a stranger, both in the place that he was born, The SeneGambia, and the country where he lives now, Germany. After 10 years of living in Europe he is seen as a European from his family and friends in The SeneGambia, and he feels like a stranger in Germany since people always ask him when he is going back home.
LUNTANGO (STRANGER) is a story about an activist and self-taught photographer that uses the power of the arts to communicate to the greater society what it means to be black, refugee, and a migrant today.

LUNTANGO bedeutet „Fremder »und als ein solcher fühlt sich Muhammed, der aus der Region Senegambia stammt und seit 10 Jahren in Deutschland lebt, egal wo er sich gerade aufhält: Bei seiner Familie und seinen Freunden in Westafrika gilt er als Europäer, in Deutschland wird er gefragt, wann er nach Hause zurückkehrt. Mit fotografischen Mitteln versucht der Aktivist auszudrücken, was es heutzutage bedeutet, Schwarz, auf der Flucht und Migrant zu sein.

2019 lud die Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung Tunis in Kooperation mit Büros der Stiftung in Dakar, Dar-es-Salaam und Johannesburg zehn Filmemacher*innen aus verschiedenen afrikanischen Ländern dazu ein, sich unter dem Titel „10 views on migration »in Kurzfilmen mit dem Thema Migration aus der Perspektive des Südens auseinanderzusetzen. Die Regisseurin Ager Oueslati und die Koordinatorin Hildegard Kiel von der Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung stellen vier der Projekt-Filme vor. (Gesamtlänge: 69 min.)
