THROUGH THE DOOR OF NO RETURN (A TRAVERS LA PORTE DU NON RETOUR) est un voyage personnel de la cinéaste, Shirikiana Aina, à la recherche des traces de son père, un Afro-américain ordinaire, qui, nous dit-elle, s’est rendu au Ghana pour créer une entreprise où il est décédé des suites du paludisme avec un rein perforé.

La cinéaste afro-américaine Shirikiana Aina se confronte personnellement à la traite négrière. En suivant les traces de son père, elle retourne en Afrique, la nuit, au bord de l’eau, par la voie par laquelle ses ancêtres sont partis, elle est de retour par la porte du non-retour.

THROUGH THE DOOR OF NO RETURN is a personal journey of the filmmaker, Shirikiana Aina, on a search for her father’s footsteps, an ordinary African-American, who she tells us, travelled to Ghana to set up a business and died as a result of Malaria and a punctured kidney.

African American filmmaker Shirikiana Aina’s personal confrontation of the slave trade. By following her father’s footsteps, she returns to Africa, at night, by the water, the way her ancestors left, back through the door of no return.
