A Ilha Josine, petit village du Sud du Mozambique, la vie tente de reprendre un cours normal après des années de guerre et de combats. Parfois ennemis pendant la guerre, les habitants doivent réapprendre à vivre ensemble et à oublier ce passé douloureux. Chacun s’aide de ses croyances religieuses ou bien encore de rituels traditionnels pour trouver la force d’oublier et de cohabiter.

Part of the highly acclaimed documentary series « Landscape of Memory », this film gives us a window onto the traditional approach to reconciliation in Mozambique following the sixteen year civil war which ended in 1992. It is set in a small village of Ilha Josina in the south of Mozambique and follows people who fought on both sides of the war and suffered at the hands of both. The film shows how, through ritual, spiritual beliefs and personally developed philosophies, the villagers are reconciling their past, living the present and working towards their futures.

Khalid FAHAD is an award-winning screenwriter and film director.

He is known for « From the Ashes » – L »Alarme » (2024), « The Investor » (2018), « Little Bird » (2021), « Sah » (2016).

He received the American Film Award, and the Best Short Film Award at the Saudi Film Festival for « Little Bird »; and the Golden Eagle Award for « The Investor » (2017). He is a creative director at several institutions and media companies, and participated in writing feature films.
