Alors qu'ils fuient les conquêtes européennes, Ibátali, une jeune amérindienne Kalinago et Olaudah, un esclave Igbo, unissent leurs destins dans les forêts de Guadeloupe au XVIIᵉ siècle. Ils rêvent d'un lieu où recommencer librement : un nouveau monde.

1645. Au début de la conquête des Amériques par les Européens. Les guerres opposant Français et Amérindiens font rage en Guadeloupe. Ibátali, une jeune amérindienne Kalinago, rencontre Olaudah, un esclave fugitif Igbo. Elle entame un long chemin la menant de l'aliénation à l'émancipation. Mais est-elle prête à payer le lourd prix de la liberté ?

As they flee the European conquests, Ibátali, a young Amerindian Kalinago and Olaudah, an Igbo slave, unite their destinies in the forests of Guadeloupe in the 17th century. They dream of a place where to start again freely: a new world.

1645. At the beginning of the conquest of the Americas by the Europeans. The wars between the French and Native Americans rage in Guadeloupe. Ibátali, a young Amerindian Kalinago, meets Olaudah, a runaway Igbo slave. She begins a long journey leading her from alienation to emancipation. But is she ready to pay the heavy price of freedom?
