Telli est le fils du ministre de l’intérieur. Francis, lui, est fils d’ouvrier immigré. Ensemble ils étudient à l’université et sont amis malgré les tensions existantes entre les indigènes et les travailleurs étrangers, tenus pour responsables de la misère générale. Des émeutes éclatent et le ministre de l’intérieur décide de sacrifier les principes sacrés de l’hospitalité africaine pour satisfaire des intérêts conjoncturels.

Francis et Telli, deux étudiants, sont amis intimes. L’un est natif du pays et fils du ministre de l’Intérieur, l’autre est émigré. Malgré les différences de situation sociale et de nationalité, leur amitié résiste aux pressions extérieures. Une crise économique sévit dans le pays. Les conditions de vie sont insupportables. Certains habitants en viennent à tenir les étrangers responsables de leur misère. Face à la crise, le ministre de l’Intérieur, père de Francis, décide de sacrifier les principes sacrés de solidarité et d’hospitalité africaines et expulse les étrangers du pays.

Telli is the son of the Minister of the Interior. Francis is the son of an immigrant worker. Together they study at the university and are friends despite the existing tensions between the natives and the foreign workers, held responsible for the general misery. Riots break out and the Minister of the Interior decides to sacrifice the sacred principles of African hospitality to satisfy short-term interests.
