Le 18 Décembre 1810, Tom Molineaux, un esclave américain libre, combat pour le titre de champion du monde de boxe contre le célèbre champion britannique Tom Cribb. Molineaux a grandi sous la tutelle d’un autre ancien esclave, Bill Richmond, et le match sera le plus grand événement du genre : il réunit plus de 10.000 spectateurs au nord of Londres. Les enjeux dépassent bien sûr largement ce combat et la boxe.

When a freed American slave journeys to Regency England to fight for the bare-knuckle boxing championship of the world, he faces not only his opponent in the ring, but an entire nation.

On December 18, 1810, Tom Molineaux, a freed American slave, fought for the bare-knuckle boxing championship against renown British champion Tom Cribb. Molineaux had risen fast under the tutelage of another former slave, Bill Richmond, and the fight was the largest event of its kind, drawing over 10,000 spectators to a field north of London. While written history records Cribb as the winner, THE LEGEND OF BLACK TOM tells the popular (and perhaps more accurate) version of what happened that day.
An unusual combination of text and live-action animation brings the way things really happened to life.
