Ces trois volets, représentant plus de 20 heures d’images, reconstituent le procès du général Arnaldo Ochoa, qui s’est déroulé à la Havane du 16 juin au 10 juillet 1989. Le général Ochoa était un proche des frères Castro. Il a dirigé des opérations commando en Amérique du Sud et en Afrique. En 1988, Il gagne la guerre en Angola. Héros de la révolution, la plus haute distinction accordée par l’État cubain, il revient à Cuba en 1989. Là son destin bascule. Contre toute attente, il est arrêté, avec d’autres officiers, dont les frères de la Guardia, pour détournement de fonds et corruption. À l’issue de leur procès, ils furent fusillés à La Havane le 13 juillet 1989. Fidel Castro se réjouissait que les images du procès Ochoa soient oubliées, selon les propos tenus par un membre du ministère de l’Intérieur, chargé de garder ses archives personnelles. Mais c’était sans compter sur la détermination du réalisateur Igor Leon qui a réalisé ce document.

These three parts, amounting to more than 20 hours of footage, reconstitute the trial of General Arnaldo Ochoa which took place in Havana from June 16 to July 10, 1989. General Ochoa was close to the Castro brothers. He directed commando operations in Latin America and Africa. In 1988, he won the war in Angola. A « Hero of the revolution, » the highest honor accorded by the Cuban state, he returned to Cuba in 1989. Then his destiny changed. Unexpectedly, he was arrested along with other officers, including the de la Guardia brothers and charged with embezzlement and corruption. They were found guilty and shot in Havana on July 13, 1989. Fidel Castro was happy to see the Ochoa trial forgotten, according to comments made by someone at the Ministry of the Interior, in charge of his personal archives. But they didn’t count on the determination of director Igor Leon, who made this film.
