Bling: A Planet Rock est un long métrage documentaire qui pose un regard très critique et satirique sur comment le phénomène « bling-bling » dans le monde ostentatoire, voyant, du hip-hop commercial a joué un rôle dans la guerre civile de 10 ans qui a ravagé la Sierra Leone.
Le film accompagne des célébrités du hip-hop américain tels que Paul Wall, l’artiste hip-hop latino Tego Calderon, et Raekwon du Wu-Tang Clan qui visite les communautés qui vivent autour des mines de diamant au Sierra Leone. La réalisatrice leur présente d’anciens enfants soldats, réfugiés et des artistes hip-hop sierraléonais.

Bling: A Planet Rock is a feature documentary that takes a satirical, hard-hitting look at how « blinging » in the flashy world of commercial hip-hop played a role in the 10-year civil war in Sierra Leone. This film takes U.S. hip-hop celebrities Paul Wall, Latin hip-hop artist Tego Calderon, and Raekwon from Wu-Tang Clan on a journey to Sierra Leone’s diamond mining communities, introducing them to former child soldiers, refugees and local hip-hop artists.
