A l'ombre des torchères, dans un camp de fortune au Sahara, un groupe de femmes venues des quatre coins de l'Algérie à la recherche d'un travail de survie, sont victimes, une nuit, d'une véritable descente expéditive. "Ils ont défoncé la porte de ma maison, ils étaient dix, ils m'ont battue. Ils ont fait fondre une bouteille en plastique sur mon corps. Ensuite ils m'ont traînée dehors. Ils m'ont violée", racontera plus tard Selma devant le tribunal, face à ses bourreaux… Une fois le crime jugé, Selma et ses amis de détresse retournent vers leurs familles, où elles trouvent, pour la plupart, porte close… Recomposer le présent qui a volé en éclats d'un groupe de femmes au corps empli de larmes, afin de ne pas oublier l'avenir… Le film, directement inspiré d'un fait divers récent, est un manifeste contre le silence complaisant.
