Produits par le Service Cinéma du Gouvernement Provisoire de la République Algérienne (GPRA) en pleine guerre d'indépendance, ces films étaient destinés à réinformer la population et l'opinion publique internationale sur les exactions commises par l'armée française coloniale : tortures, arrestations et exécutions arbitraires, bombardements au napalm, incendies dans les douars, villages entiers rayés de la carte etc. que les médias français qualifiaient de campagne de "pacification". Ces derniers censurant ou réorientant toutes images pouvant nuire au récit colonial.
