C’est l’histoire de Moussa, récemment revenu dans son village après un voyage infructueux dans le désert pour rejoindre la cohorte des candidats à l’émigration. Il se retrouve confronté aux hommes qui lui ont prêté l’argent du voyage.

Haroun se penche sur le sort des migrants en Afrique dans ce court métrage commandé et produit par Isabelle PARK (Corée du Sud).

Having left his village in Chad some time ago, claiming he was making a journey across the desert, Moussa returns home. It soon becomes apparent that he never reached his destination. But he is, nevertheless, transformed by his experiences, and is now mysteriously apathetic and uninterested in his surroundings. But the creditors, who loaned him the money for the journey, are growing impatient…

Mahamat-Saleh Haroun was born in Abéché, Chad, and studied film in Paris and then journalism in Bordeaux. His three features are Bye-bye Africa (99), Abouna (02) and Daratt (06), which won the Grand Special Jury Prize at the Venice International Film Festival. Expectations (08) is his latest short film.
