Une Africaine dans l’espace nous permet d’explorer les démarches d’une diaspora africaine contemporaine prospère en Amérique, dernière frontière terrestre du rêve.
La diaspora africaine projette de reculer cette frontière du rêve pour enfin trouver cet espace terrestre ou cosmique, lui offrant un monde meilleur, un espace avant tout « africain ». Envoyer une Africaine dans l’Espace consiste à fédérer cette diaspora autour d’un projet collectif au service de l’humanité toute entière. Cette nouvelle « fuite des cerveaux » prend tout son sens et redéfinit le cosmos comme un espace « africain », faisant de nous tous des Africains, des individus en quête d’un monde plus humain. Le dispositif de l’installation permet de percevoir l’Amérique comme un laboratoire des identités en gestation, plaçant le visiteur en « frère » d’une autre planète à créer, à défaut de la découvrir.
Le visiteur peut ainsi s’identifier à ceux dont la démarche a été de partir pour réaliser un projet individuel, qui l’ont réussi et qui sont désormais en quête d’un projet collectif repassant inévitablement par l’Afrique.
Une Africaine dans l’espace se propose de créer une identité collective à partir des identités individuelles en mutations, dans un monde qui gagnerait à redéfinir la notion d’hospitalité, la rencontre avec l’autre qui n’est pas nous.

Eine Afrikanerin im Raum ermöglicht uns, das Vorgehen einer erfolgreichen zeitgenössischen afrikanischen Diaspora in Amerika zu erforschen, der letzten Traumgrenze auf Erden.
Das Vorhaben der afrikanischen Diaspora ist es, diese Traumgrenze zurück zu drängen um endlich diesen irdischen oder kosmischen Raum zu finden, der ihr eine bessere Welt bietet, einen Raum, der vor allem „afrikanisch »ist.
Eine Afrikanerin im Raum vereinigt diese Diaspora um ein gemeinsames Projekt im Dienste der gesamten Menschheit. Der Bedeutung dieses erneuten „Brain Drain »kommt ihr gesamter Sinn zu, er definiert den Kosmos als einen „afrikanischen »
Raum neu, und macht aus uns allen Afrikaner, Individuen auf der Suche nach einer menschlicheren Welt.
Die Einrichtung erlaubt eine Wahrnehmung Amerikas als Forschungsanstalt von zu entstehenden Identitäten, und stellt den Besucher in die Position eines „Bruders »einer anderen Welt, die es zu gestalten gilt.
Der Besucher kann sich so mit denjenigen identifizieren, die weg gingen um ein persönliches Projekt umzusetzen, denen dies gelang und die sich jetzt auf der Suche nach einem gemeinsamen
Projekt befinden, und dabei unvermeidlich wieder über Afrika gehen.
Eine Afrikanerin im Raum will eine kollektive Identität hervorrufen,
die sich auf individuelle Identitäten in Bewegung stützt in einer Welt, die nur davon profitieren kann ihre Vorstellung von Gastfreundschaft zu überdenken, durch die Begegnung mit dem Anderen, der nicht wie wir ist.

An African woman in space makes it possible to explore the approach of a present-day African Diaspora which is prospering in the United States, the last frontier on earth for dreams.
The African Diaspora plans to push back this dream frontier to find, at last, this earthly or cosmic place which can offer them a better world, a space which is « African » above all.
Sending an African woman in space consists in bringing this Diaspora together for a collective project to serve all of mankind. This new « brain drain » takes on its full significance and redefines the cosmos as an « African » space, making all of us African people in search of a more humane world.
The installation set makes it possible to perceive America as a laboratory for still-developing identities by putting the visitor in the situation of a « brother » from another planet. A planet, remaining undiscovered and which must therefore be created.
The visitor is thus able to identify with those who made the step of leaving in order to carry through a personal project, were successful and are henceforth in search of a collective project which inevitably makes them come back through Africa.
An African woman in space sets out to create a group identity from many changing personal identities, in a world which had better redefine the notion of hospitality: the encounter of the other who is not one of us.
