Ayed is a 28-year-old Palestinian who is a field psychologist, working at the Jabaliya refugee camp in Gaza. Our camera follows him as he goes on home visits in the camp, his briefcase swinging from his hand.
Ayed gives therapy to young Inas who has thoughts of suicide, to Maysa who has had traumatic experiences, to Hanan living in extreme poverty, to Abed – a former militant and suicide bomber driver. Ayed is a dedicated psychologist who attempts to offer his patients a life of light and warmth. « A million psychologists are needed in Gaza, » he says. A comic yet tragic film from the « secret rooms » of Gaza. Filmed 2006-2008 when Gaza was isolated from the world.
