Lienkie veut être une femme policière, Elfansou veut être un cowboy et Danylisha rêve d'être médecin. Mais grandir pauvre à Nieu Bethesda signifie grandir avec un tas de difficultés. Chômage, abus d'alcool et VIH/SIDA ajoutent aux défis des enfants du village. Mais une enseignante dévouée et les encouragements de leur familles peuvent changer la donne. "Si vous leur donnez de l'amour, ils peuvent aller loin," dit leur enseignante, et elle fait de son mieux.

Lienkie wants to be a policewoman, Elfansou wants to be a cowboy and Danylisha dreams of being a doctor. But growing up poor in Nieu Bethesda means growing up with a lot of hardship. Unemployment, alcohol abuse and the spread of HIV/AIDS all add to the challenges for the village's children. But, with a dedicated teacher and the encouragement of their families, the three children and their friends can face life with a positive attitude. "If you give them love, they can go far," says their teacher, and she tries her best. This gentle, year-in-the-life film follows the rhythms of the village and documents a tough way of life that is celebrated through small, hard-won victories.
