Amal, fille de paysans marocains, rève de devenir docteur mais ses parents en ont peut-être décidé autrement… A New York, une artiste libertine se confronte au chaos existentiel de sa vie… Lena, contrôleuse dans le metro de Berlin, trouve une bien étrange façon de se venger de son récent licenciement… Dans le centre de la France, Lea offre un cadeau plutôt troublant à son amoureuse… Croyant émigrer avec son fiancé, une jeune mexicaine quitte sa famille et se retrouve seule dans les rues de Mexico où elle décide de devenir écrivain public…

Concept
« WOMEN INTERRUPTED » est un long-métrage d’ 1h40 d’un genre nouveau, à l’ambition à la fois moderne et internationale.
Composé de 7 courts-métrages sélectionnés avec soin pour leur qualité cinématographique, dans un marché indépendant en plein essor international, le film se présente comme un voyage à la fois culturel, émotionnel et philosophique au travers de personnages singuliers et contemporains.
Bien au-delà de la compilation thématique, l’idée est de s’inspirer directement d’un cinéma d’auteur présent et dynamique, à la fois proche du public et novateur, pour construire narrativement autour d’une émotion commune, grâce au montage et aux moyens numériques : un vrai film de cinéma, à portée internationale.
« WOMEN INTERRUPTED » est le premier d’une série appelée « Short Stories of Our Time », sur une idée de Karine Allenbach, jeune productrice française. Un second film sur le même concept « GOLDEN CITIES » est en cours d’élaboration actuellement chez Ursa Minor Films, sa société de production, traitant cette fois du rapport à l’urbanité.

Construit sur le modèle innovant d’une coproduction internationale entre sept pays différents, »WOMEN INTERRUPTED » sera d’abord distribué au Canada par Locomotion Films, qui est aussi coproducteur du film.
Jeune et dynamique, la société URSA MINOR FILMS a fait le choix de s’adjoindre un partenaire numérique pour la finalisation et la distribution internationale en salles du film.
Toute l’équipe d’ URSA MINOR FILMS sera à Cannes cette année pour rencontrer d’autres distributeurs intéressés au film, à commencer par les pays parlant les langues représentées dans le long-métrage (anglais, français, espagnol, allemand, arabe), dont notamment la France, pays initiateur du projet.

Concept
« Women Interrupted » is a feature film pioneering a new genre, with both modern and international ambitions.
Composed of seven short films carefully selected for their cinematic quality and thematic progression, the project depicts a cultural, emotional and philosophical journey through the experiences of each section’s dynamic, contemporary character.
More than just a compilation, the idea behind the film is to draw inspiration from the innovation and insights into real life that auteur cinema offers its audiences, thus creating a true cinematic oeuvre around universal emotions.
« Women Interrupted » is the first in a series called « A collection of short stories of our times », based on an idea by young French producer, Karine Allenbach. Her production company, Ursa Minor Films, is already developing a second film using the same concept entitled « Golden Cities », which explores urban themes.

Built on an innovative model of international co-production between seven different countries, « Women Interrupted » will initially be distributed in Canada by Locomotion Films – also a co-producer of the project.
Ursa Minor Films has taken the initiative to seek post-production and digital projection partners for the completion and theatrical distribution of the feature ‘Women Interrupted’.
The Ursa Minor Films team will be at Cannes this year to meet other distributors interested by the film, starting with the countries whose languages are represented within the film (English, French, Spanish, German, Arabic). Distributors from France – the film’s country of origin – will be of particular interest.
We are very glad to announce the selection of WOMEN INTERRUPTED at the 38th edition of the Festival du Nouveau Cinema of Montreal. The official screening will take place at 17 pm the 10th of October at the big Cinema Imperial Theater. A cocktail organized by the WIFT (Women in Film and Television) of Montreal will follow the screening.
