MOONDANCE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL invites screenwriters and filmmakers,
playwrights, short-story writers, TV writers, librettists, composers,
children’s filmmakers & writers, and young (18 & under) filmmakers, as well
as directors, producers, distributors & investors to participate in the
annual film festival & festival competition, which offers a unique
opportunity to come together with other writers, directors and producers to
create new opportunities, develop tools for success and forge new alliances
within the international film and entertainment industry.
Any genre is welcome, including comedy, romance, drama, action, etc.
Moondance promotes & encourages non-violent conflict resolution in film,
stage & television, depictions of women & girls in a positive manner, and
appreciation of ethnic diversity. The Moondance International Film
Festival’s
mission is to promote peace & cultural understanding among the peoples of
the
world, which is especially important in these difficult times of on-going
international discord.
For the 2003 competition, ALL entries will be considered eligible for the
first three award categories:
-Spirit of Moondance Awards: encompasses all elements of the Seahorse &
Columbine awards. There is no limitation on content or genre. The only
criteria is a unique, good story, well-told.
-Moondance Seahorse Awards: submissions of films & written works are
required
to depict women & girls in a strong, positive manner &/or have lead roles
for
women actors over 40.
-Moondance Columbine Awards: must promote non-violent conflict resolution,
alternatives to violence, or show why a violent resolution to conflict is
counter-productive & inhumane, and submitted material may not contain
gratuitous violence.
-Moondance Dolphin Awards: for short films (narrative, documentary or
animation) by young filmmakers, or screenplays by young writers 18 years old
& under.
