Une vie toute neuve, de Ounie Lecomte (Grand Prix 2010 et Prix du Public) – Dowaha, de Raja Amari (Meilleur Long Africain)
Personalità del mondo del cinema e della cultura sono invitate dalla Direzione del Festival a costituire le Giurie Ufficiali per i Concorsi (tra i nomi più illustri che hanno partecipato in giuria citiamo Omar Sharif, Wole Soyinka, Gabriele Salvatores, Silvio Soldini, Sergio Rubini, Danny Glover e Tahar Ben Jelloun). Il montepremi totale del Festival è di 41.000 euro.
Anche il pubblico è invitato a votare i lungometraggi del Concorso Finestre sul Mondo, esprimendo il proprio giudizio su apposite cartoline distribuite all’entrata delle sale cinematografiche per l’assegnazione del « Premio del Pubblico ».

Premio Credito Artigiano al Miglior Lungometraggio Africano
La Giuria Ufficiale del Concorso Miglior Film Africano è composta da Maurizio Porro – Presidente, Cristina Battocletti e Barbara Sorrentini
Già nota al pubblico per Satin rouge, la regista tunisina Raja Amari impone in uno stile che si nutre di realismo del ma non trascura gli aspetti surreali e i richiami del magico nel contrapporre logiche ed emisferi diversi. La storia delle tre donne che vivono isolate dal mondo, un mondo di cui percepiamo il fascino lussuoso nella antica magione ma anche gli incubi e le ingiustizie, è un viaggio laico attraverso una generazione e una coscienza infelice che non ha paura di arrivare alla follia e si esprime al meglio in un racconto in cui le donne, sempre tra loro solidali, sono padrone del destino aprendo un occhio curioso, quello del cinema, sulla realtà.

La Giuria Ufficiale del Concorso Documentari « Finestre sul mondo » è composta da Elisa Marincola – Presidente, Nicolas Feodoroff e Federica Masin
La giuria ha trovato una grande difficoltà nella scelta, per la validità di tutte le proposte in concorso.
Dopo una lunga e difficile riflessione, ha assegnato ex aequo il premio a due film dalla scrittura molto diversa che hanno tuttavia in comune la lettura a più livelli e l’ambizione di raccontare la storia attraverso i destini degli individui. Entrambi i registi usano il presente: in un caso, l’osservazione diventa la stessa testimonianza del futuro; nell’altro, condizioni di un futuro possibile sono il recupero e la trasmissione di un passato doloroso raccontato insieme con gravità e leggerezza.
Il Premio Regione Lombardia va ex aequo:

La Giuria Ufficiale del Concorso Cortometraggi Africani è composta da Elisa Marincola – Presidente, Nicolas Feodoroff e Federica Masin.
Prendendo atto della grande diversità dei cortometraggi in concorso, che interrogano la molteplicità del cinema, la giuria segnala un’opera prima di una giovane regista algerina, Retour vers un point d’équilibre, che mostra una sensibilità cinematografica promettente.
Per la capacità di fondere nel linguaggio cinematografico il racconto poetico, politico e storico superando il confine tra documentario e fiction, la giuria assegna Una Menzione Speciale a:
Atlantiques, di Mati Diop
Per la scelta di utilizzare un genere come il musical, inconsueto nel cinema sub-sahariano, senza rinunciare a raccontare gli aspetti sociali e individuali della realtà contemporanea senegalese,

Una Menzione Speciale.
Viscerale omaggio ad un giovanissimo talento dalla topica chirurgica costretta a operare a cielo aperto col bisturi di un machete. Un artista capace di identificare la perdita di senso intrinseco della violenta trasmissione di un’infettiva accozzaglia genetica. Spettri che ancor oggi l’Occidente non è in grado di affrontare sono dipinti da tinte ematiche pervase dal cosciente stupore di un bambino che è vittima e riscatto tributato alla vita stessa.
Una Menzione Speciale va a Maibobo, di Yves Montand Niyongabo
Una fiabesca fortezza di cristallo, dove l’attualità del dibattito politico è una necessaria metafora universale su molteplici immagini del potere, che si tinge di follia, di compromessi, di limiti nel momento in cui la sua efficacia è autoreferenziale e non finalizzata allo sviluppo di un popolo, di una società… dell’intera famiglia umana. Apprezzabile e coraggiosa è la coscienza del regista nell’affermare che, dietro l’etichetta della sovranità, si celi semplicemente un uomo solo, vestito di debolezza, insicurezza, fragilità. Queste, con l’aiuto di altre perfettibili individualità potrebbero diventare punti di forza per una redenzione personale e collettiva.

Personalities from the world of the cinema and culture are invited by the Festival Directors to be members of the Official Juries for the competitive sections (some of the well-known names that have been on the jury include Omar Sharif, Wole Soyinka, Gabriele Salvatores, Silvio Soldini, Sergio Rubini, Danny Glover and Tahar Ben Jelloun). The total prize money of the Festival is euro 41,000.
The public is also invited to vote for the feature films in the « Windows on the World » Competition, using the cards distributed in the foyers of the cinemas. The film receiving the greatest number of votes is awarded the « Public’s Prize ».

The Official Jury of the Competition for the Best African Film is made up of Maurizio Porro – President, Cristina Battocletti and Barbara Sorrentini
Already known to the public for Satin rouge, Tunisian director Raja Amari imposes in a style which is nurtured on realism but does not completely overlook surreal aspects and overtones of magic in opposing different logics and hemispheres. The story of the three women who live secluded from the world, of which we glimpse the luxurious appeal in the old mansion but also the nightmares and injustices, is a journey through a generation and an unhappy awareness that is not afraid of attaining madness and is best expressed in a story where the women, always united, are in control of their fate by opening a curious eye, that of the cinema, on reality.

Lombardy Regional Council Prize for the Best Documentary Windows on the World Competition
The members of the Official Jury of the « Windows on the World » Documentary Competition are Elisa Marincola – President, Nicolas Feodoroff and Federica Masin
The jury found it very hard to choose, due to the excellent level of all the films in the competition.
After a lengthy and arduous reflection, it awarded ex aequo the prize to two films written in very different ways but which have in common an interpretation on several levels and the ambition to relate history through the fates of individuals. Both directors use the present: in one case, observation becomes the witness of the future; in the other, conditions of a possible future are the recovery and transmission of a painful past told with gravity and lightness at one and the same time.

The director shows appreciable and courageous awareness that behind the label of sovereignty there is merely a lone man, clad in weakness, insecurity and fragility. These characteristics, with the help of other individualities capable of being perfected, could become the strong points for a personal and collective redemption.

Already known to the public for Satin rouge, Tunisian director Raja Amari imposes in a style which is nurtured on realism but does not completely overlook surreal aspects and overtones of magic in opposing different logics and hemispheres. The story of the three women who live secluded from the world, of which we glimpse the luxurious appeal in the old mansion but also the nightmares and injustices, is a journey through a generation and an unhappy awareness that is not afraid of attaining madness and is best expressed in a story where the women, always united, are in control of their fate by opening a curious eye, that of the cinema, on reality.

Lombardy Regional Council Prize for the Best Documentary Windows on the World Competition
The members of the Official Jury of the « Windows on the World » Documentary Competition are Elisa Marincola – President, Nicolas Feodoroff and Federica Masin
The jury found it very hard to choose, due to the excellent level of all the films in the competition.
After a lengthy and arduous reflection, it awarded ex aequo the prize to two films written in very different ways but which have in common an interpretation on several levels and the ambition to relate history through the fates of individuals. Both directors use the present: in one case, observation becomes the witness of the future; in the other, conditions of a possible future are the recovery and transmission of a painful past told with gravity and lightness at one and the same time.
