Par la fondation Blachère
Pour participer au projet, la Fondation d’entreprise Blachère invite les artistes à remplir un formulaire d’inscription et à fournir des informations à propos de leur démarche et de l’œuvre qu’ils aimeraient réaliser en résidence.
L’appel à projet concerne essentiellement la sculpture statuaire, mais n’exclut pas pour autant l’installation.
Le choix des matériaux est libre, mais l’artiste devra penser à la pérennité de l’œuvre et à sa destination pour l’extérieur. Si toutefois l’œuvre exige d’être protégée, elle sera maintenue à l’intérieur.
De fait, la Fondation Blachère ne refusera pas les projets qui présentent des matériaux fragiles tels que le carton, la terre, le papier, le plastique…
Dans le Luberon, des carrières de pierre fournissent un excellent matériau. L’entreprise Blachère illumination fournit également des sources d’inspiration et l’artiste peut aussi penser son œuvre en lumière.
Sur le plan de la statuaire, il peut être envisagé des agrandissements en bronze à partir de maquettes. Le coût élevé de cette opération nécessite une étude et une décision collégiales.
L’atelier de création doit permettre à de nouveaux talents émergents de s’affirmer en trouvant auprès de la Fondation Blachère des moyens de production adéquates et un accompagnement critique pour produire une œuvre d’excellence.
Description des résidences artistiques de la Fondation Blachère
Spécificités
La Fondation Blachère s’adresse aux artistes du continent africain et de la Diaspora, sans limite d’âge. Son comité de sélection se compose des membres de la Fondation Blachère.
2.Durée
La durée de la résidence artistique se situe entre trois semaines et un mois et demi à partir du mois de février 2011.
3.Conditions d’accueil
L’équipe de la Fondation Blachère est présente pour faciliter le séjour de l’artiste et la réalisation de leurs projets artistiques, elle l’accompagne dans la dimension humaine, technique et logistique de son projet.
4. Financement
L’artiste sélectionné bénéficie pour la durée du séjour : d’un vol aller/retour pris en charge à destination de Marseille, d’assurances voyage, d’un logement individuel sur place, d’un atelier de 100 m2 et d’un per diem de 30€/ jour pour ses frais de bouche.
L’artiste sélectionné pour son projet perçoit une bourse de résidence et d’acquisition de 2 500€ à la fin de son séjour.
Chaque proposition fera l’objet au préalable d’une étude et d’une évaluation du coût de production de l’œuvre ; les frais de production sont à la charge de la Fondation Blachère.
5. Destination de l’œuvre
L’œuvre réalisée en résidence rentre dans les collections de la Fondation Blachère qui en assure le stockage, la promotion et la diffusion. L’œuvre peut être mise à la demande de l’artiste pour d’éventuelles expositions.

Pour être recevables, les candidats devront fournir un dossier comprenant :
1- une lettre de motivation.
2- une note d’intention (1 page maximum) explicitant la pertinence de leur travail artistique.
3- au moins un projet réalisable dans le temps et les conditions de la résidence, accompagné d’un croquis.
4- un curriculum vitae.
5- un dossier artistique illustré représentatif du travail antérieur de l’artiste. Tous supports sont acceptés : papier, dvd, cd-rom, formats informatiques, web.

La résidence est ouverte à tout artiste africain ou de la Diaspora, sans limite d’âge.
3. Sélection des projets :
La Fondation Blachère se réunira fin décembre pour la sélection des candidatures. La décision sera rendue au plus tard le 20 janvier 2011. Les résidences pourront commencer dès le mois de février 2011 en fonction du calendrier de la Fondation Blachère et des disponibilités de l’artiste.

To take part in the project, the Blachère Business Foundation invites artists to fill in a registration form and provide information about their approach and the work they would like to do during the residency.
The call for projects mainly applies to statuary sculpture, but does not necessarily rule out installations.
Artists may choose any materials, but they must think about the durability of the work and the fact it will be used outdoors. If the work needs to be protected, it will be kept inside.
Therefore, the Blachère Foundation shall not reject projects which contain fragile materials such as cardboard, earth, paper, plastic etc.
In Luberon, stone quarries provide an excellent material. The Blachère Illumination company also provides sources of inspiration and the artist can also think about their work in terms of light.
As regards statuary, bronze enlargements can be made from models. The high cost of this operation means that a collaborative study will be required before a decision can be made.
The design workshop must enable new, up-and-coming talents to establish themselves by receiving adequate means of production and critical mentoring from the Blachère Foundation, in order to be able to produce excellent work.

Jean-Paul Blachère is known throughout the world of African contemporary art as a patron, collector and founding chairman of the eponymous business foundation.
In 2004, the first year of the Foundation was dedicated to sculpture, a medium that Jean-Paul Blachère especially favours and wants to honour again by starting a programme of creative residencies for up-and-coming artists and sculpture.
II. Description of the Blachère Foundation’s artists’ residencies
1. Special features
The Blachère Foundation is aimed at artists from the African continent and the Diaspora, with no age limit. Its selection committee consists of member of the Blachère Foundation.
2. Length
The length of the artists’ residencies is between three weeks and a month-and-a-half from February 2011.
3. Reception conditions
The Blachère Foundation team is on hand to make the artist’s stay easier and help them carry out their artistic projects, assisting them with the human, technical and logistical dimensions of their project.
4. Funding
The selected artist will receive the following benefits free of charge during their stay: a return flight to Marseille, travel insurance, individual accommodation on site, a workshop of 100 m2 and a per diem allowance of €30/day for their meals.
The artist who’s project is selected receives a residency and acquisition grant of €2500 at the end of their stay.
Each proposal will be studied beforehand and the cost of producing the work will be assessed; production costs will be covered by the Blachère Foundation.
5. Destination of the work
The work produced during the residency enters the collections of the Blachère Foundation, which takes care of storing, promoting and circulating it. The artist can request the work for any exhibitions that may arise.

2- a statement of intent (1 page maximum) explaining the relevance of their artistic work.
3- at least one project that can be delivered within the timeframe and under the conditions of the residency, accompanied by a sketch.

5- an illustrated portfolio representative of the artist’s earlier work. All media are accepted: paper, dvd, cd-rom, computer formats, web.
