My reply to the question “What do you do in life?” is as follows: “I teach artists about their rights.”

The reaction to this reply is almost always the same in the countries where I have had the opportunity to travel.

“Oh, so an artist has rights? But they are dreamers.”

“The country is facing serious problems and you find time and money to spend on such frivolities.”

In certain countries it is the very question of human rights which gives rise to debates.

“The people already have trouble surviving (work, employment). Talking about rights seems to be a luxury, a perversion.” And yet …
