South Africa’s award-winning rapper Cassper Nyovest, well-known for the hit ‘Shebeleza’, is set to perform in Malawi on March 21.
The artist, born Refiloe Maele Phoolo on 16 December, 1990, will perform on March 21 at College of Medicine Complex in Blantyre courtesy of Mango Entertainment.
A press statement from Pencils PR said yesterday that a performance agreement between the South African Best Male Artist in the year 2014 and the Malawian company, Mango Entertainment, was signed this week.
According to the statement, the rapper also confirmed via Facebook, informing his Malawian fans that he was coming to perform in the country.
The recording artist and record producer, who released his debut album Tsholofelo last year, is currently signed to his own independent label and media company, Family Tree.
Mango’s Steve Kamanga confirmed the development yesterday, saying they have been in touch with the artists’ manager and that the artist also confirmed through his Facebook page.
“It is confirmed. We have a contract signed, the artist confirmed through his Facebook page and we have been in touch with his manager,” said Kamanga.
This will be the second artist for Mango Entertainment to bring into the country after Zahara, who came in 2013.
The artist wrote on his Facebook page:
“Yassss!!!! It’s confirmed!!! I’m coming to Malawi !!!! The cheque cleared today!!! More details to follow!!!”
With Malawians now skeptical with organisers bringing different artists in the country some of which have failed to do so with the latest coming from Nigerian star Davido, Kamanga assured Malawians that the South African rapper is coming.
Cassper released ‘Gusheshe’ in 2013, the first official single from his debut album. The single was well received and playlisted across various radio stations in South Africa.
It was accompanied by a music video which premiered on Vuzu’s V-Entertainment. After ‘Gusheshe’, he released his second single titled, ‘Doc Shebeleza’ which saw him gain major success.
The song got number four on South Africa’s official music chart.
Last year, Nyovest was ranked number one on “The Hottest MC in Africa” list by MTV Base. He was also ranked number two on MTV Base’s “SA’s Hottest MC” list with K.O at number 1.
