La Fondation du festival du film de la mer Rouge a annoncé la création du Fonds de la mer Rouge. Ce fonds de 10 millions de dollars soutiendra des projets avec des réalisateurs du monde arabe et d’Afrique, lançant une nouvelle génération de cinéastes et soutenant les auteurs établis alors qu’ils portent leur travail du scénario à l’écran.
Le fonds soutiendra plus de 100 projets au cours de sa première année d’existence, ce qui donnera un nouvel élan aux cinéastes d’Afrique et du monde arabe en soutenant les longs métrages de fiction, les documentaires et les films d’animation, ainsi que les contenus épisodiques. En outre, les ressortissants saoudiens pourront s’adresser au Fonds de la mer Rouge pour soutenir les courts métrages en développement et en production.
« Aider le cinéma africain et arabe à se développer, c’est une responsabilité très excitante », déclare Edouard Waintrop, directeur artistique du Red Sea International Film Festival. « C’est ce que le Red Sea Fund fera à chaque étape de la réalisation des films et contenus épisodiques choisis. En accordant plus de 100 subventions allant jusqu’à 10 millions de dollars pour aider au développement, à la production et à la postproduction de films dans le monde arabe et en Afrique, le Red Sea Fund aidera un cinéma en pleine métamorphose. »
Le Red Sea Fund fait partie de l’engagement de la Red Sea Film Foundation envers le secteur de l’écran régional, qui comprendra également le lancement du premier Red Sea International Film Festival, qui aura lieu du 11 au 20 novembre 2021.
Le Festival verra le lancement du Red Sea Souk, sa place de marché et son centre industriel pour la région. Le Red Sea Souk comprendra un marché de projets, avec des séances de pitching de plus de 20 projets du monde arabe et d’Afrique, ainsi qu’un atelier de films en cours. Tous les projets qui s’inscrivent au Red Sea Fund seront automatiquement éligibles au Red Sea Souk – Project Market et au Red Sea Souk Films-in-Progress Workshop.
Le Red Sea Souk – Project Market aura lieu du 12 au 15 novembre 2021, lors du Red Sea International Film Festival à Djeddah. Les projets concourront pour les prix Red Sea Development etProduction respectivement d’un montant de 25 000 et 100 000 dollars américains.
Le Red Sea Souk Films-in-Progress Workshop aura lieu du 12 au 15 novembre 2021, au Festival international du film de la mer Rouge à Djeddah. Chaque projet sélectionné dans les Films-in-Progress concourra pour les Red Sea Post-Production Awards d’un montant de 30 000 dollars américains.
« Le Fonds de la mer Rouge est un coup de pouce majeur pour l’industrie cinématographique africaine et arabe », déclare Shivani Pandya, directrice générale du Festival international du film de la mer Rouge. « Au cours des deux dernières décennies, nous avons vu l’industrie cinématographique arabe et africaine se développer et prospérer. Le Fonds et le Souk de la mer Rouge fourniront davantage d’outils pour soutenir l’industrie cinématographique arabe et africaine afin qu’elle ait encore plus d’impact sur le marché international avec le lancement de son marché de projets et de son atelier de films en cours en novembre prochain. »
Le souk de la mer Rouge proposera également des panels, des événements de mise en réseau, des ateliers et des stands qui permettront à la communauté cinématographique internationale de se connecter au nouveau marché saoudien.

Le Fonds de la mer Rouge sera réparti en trois catégories principales
Fonds Mer Rouge – Développement.
Le fonds vise à soutenir les directeurs audacieux et créatifs dans le développement de projets d’action en direct, de médias émergents et d’animation, des traitements aux scénarios et concepts prêts à être produits. Le fonds Red Sea développera des projets de réalisateurs arabes, africains et saoudiens qui ont un réalisateur et un producteur attachés.
Le Fonds Mer Rouge – Production est destiné aux projets entrant en production et vise à soutenir tout aspect du tournage. Ouvert aux projets viables au stade de la production, avec un scénario, un réalisateur et un producteur engagés attachés, ainsi qu’un casting potentiel et un calendrier confirmé. L’équipe peut être émergente ou établie, mais avec une expérience avérée dans la réalisation de films.
Fonds Mer Rouge – Post-Production
Un fonds soutenant tous les aspects de la post-production des projets de long métrage. Une fois qu’un montage grossier est prêt, ces subventions aideront les cinéastes à terminer leurs films et à les préparer pour la distribution et l’exploitation. L’équipe peut être émergente ou établie, mais avec une expérience avérée dans la réalisation de films.

The Red Sea Film Festival Foundation has announced the Red Sea Fund. The million fund will support projects with directors from the Arab World and Africa, launching a new generation of filmmakers and supporting established auteurs as they bring their work from script to screen.
The fund will back more than 100 projects in its first year, creating a game-changing boost for filmmakers from Africa and the Arab world by supporting fiction, documentary and animation feature films, as well as episodic content. Additionally, Saudi nationals will be able to apply to the Red Sea Fund to support short films in development and production.
« Helping African and Arab cinema grow, that’s a very exciting responsibility, » says Edouard Waintrop, Red Sea International Film Festival Artistic Director. « That’s what the Red Sea Fund will do at every stage of the making of the chosen movies and episodic content. In providing more than 100 grants of up to million to help the development, production and post-production of movies across the Arab World and Africa, the Red Sea Fund will help cinema that is in full metamorphosis. »
The Red Sea Fund is part of the Red Sea Film Foundation’s commitment to the regional screen sector, that will also include launching the inaugural Red Sea International Film Festival that will take place from November 11 – 20, 2021.
The Festival will see the launch of the Red Sea Souk, its market place and industry hub for the region. Red Sea Souk will include a Project Market, with pitching sessions of more than 20 projects from the Arab World and Africa, as well as Films-in-Progress workshop. Red Sea Fund – Production.
The Red Sea Fund – Production is for projects going into production and is aimed at supporting any aspect of the shoot. Open to viable projects at the production stage, with a script, committed director and producer attached, as well as potential cast and confirmed timeline. The team can be emerging or established, but with proven experience in filmmaking.
Red Sea Fund – Post-Production
A fund supporting all aspects of post-production on feature-length projects. Once a rough cut is ready, these grants will support filmmakers to complete their films and get them ready for distribution and exhibition. The team can be emerging or established, but with proven experience in filmmaking.
