Famous and the Dead (The)
A Bob Dylan fan who goes by the name Mr. Tambourine passes his time in the Brazilian countryside by looking at photographs and movies on the Internet that seem to feature the same mysterious woman.

He doesn’t have a first name and he’s neither sad nor happy. He spends lots of time chatting on the Internet, lives alone with his mother, is a Bob Dylan fan and smokes weed with his mate Pedro. The teenager is haunted by the presence of a girl who, we suspect, is dead. Progressively we’ll discover that lots of people in the town are committing suicide. From the earliest shots onwards, the emotion is constant and tangible. Between laughter and tears, the director has captured the quintessence of adolescence _ the state of being simultaneously vulnerable and all-powerful _ with consummate authenticity. The cinemascope image renders the adolescent’s silhouette even more solitary, as if he was lost in the middle of the frame. Particular attention has been paid to the highly suggestive soundtrack. As to the end, it’s like Bob sings « It’s just blowin’ in the wind. »…
