Days of Cannibalism est un film en trois parties, un western dans l’Afrique contemporaine. C’est un film sur l’homme en tant que loup pour lui-même, où la menace provient aussi bien des transactions du commerce mondialisé en Chine que d’une bande de contrebandiers du Lesotho qui jouent aux cartes dans le bar du village nommé « Days of Cannibalism » ou de la violence d’un vol de bétail dans les hautes montagnes du Lesotho. Le film démarre dans un hotel à Canton. Pour des raisons pas nécessairement désintéressées, l’étranger hébergé au Xiushan Building Business Apartment, propose à la réceptionniste chinoise de porter une lettre à son amant, qui vient d’ouvrir un négoce en Afrique. Suite à une rumeur sur l’implication de la communauté chinoise dans un vol de bétail, on propose au narrateur de se rendre dans une exploitation bovine en haute montagne, où se déroule l’acte final de « cannibalisme ». Days of Cannibalism est un film sur la relation entre l’Afrique et la Chine aujourd’hui, sur la structure du pouvoir et sur ceux qu’elle touche.

Days of Cannibalism is a triptych, a Western set in contemporary Africa. It’s a man-eat-man story, where the threat is in the business of globalised trade in China, but also within a band of smugglers in Lesotho who play cards in the village bar named « Days of Cannibalism » and in the violence of a cattle raid deep in the high mountains of Lesotho. The trail starts in a hotel in Guangzhou China. The ‘foreigner’ is staying at the Xiushan Building Business Apartment and offers to take a letter by the young Chinese receptionist to her lover who has started a business in Africa. His motives aren’t purely altruistic. At the « Days of Cannibalism » bar, following a rumour about the Chinese involvement in a cattle raid, the narrator is offered a trip up the mountains to a cattle farm. This is where the final act of ‘cannibalism’ takes place. Days of Cannibalism is a film about the relationship between Africa and China today – about the power structureand those who are affected by it.
