Mohamed Chouikh, Algérie mon Amour, fait parti de la collection "Les Cinéastes Algériens", réalisés par Linda Tahir-Meriau, consacré à Mohamed Chouikh, né en 1943 à Mostaganem, acteur et réalisateur algérien.



En 1965, il joue dans l'une des premières grandes réalisations algériennes, "L'Aube des Damnés" de René Vautier et Ahmed Rachedi. En 1966, il joue dans le "Vent des Aurès" de Mohammed Lakhdar-Hamina. Le film reçoit le prix de première oeuvre à Cannes. Jusqu'en 1970, Mohamed Chouikh se consacre essentiellement à sa carrière d'acteur au théâtre et au cinéma. C'est le film de Michel Drach, "Elise Ou La Vraie Vie" d'après le roman de Claire Etcherelli qui le révèle au public français.



Dans les années 70, il devient réalisateur pour la télévision algérienne. En 1989, il réalise "La Citatelle", sélectionné dans plus de 70 festivals internationaux et remporte une vingtaine de prix.

Mohamed Chouikh, Algérie mon Amour, is a part from the "Algerian Filmmakers" collection, compiled by Linda Tahir-Meriau, dedicated to Mohamed Chouikh, born in 1943 in Mostaganem, an Algerian actor and director.



In 1965, he starred in one of the first major Algerian films, "L'Aube des Damnés" (The Dawn of the Damned) by René Vautier and Ahmed Rachedi. In 1966, he appeared in "Le Vent des Aurès" (The Wind of the Aurès) by Mohammed Lakhdar-Hamina. The film received the Best First Feature Award at Cannes. Until 1970, Mohamed Chouikh devoted himself primarily to his acting career in theater and film. It was Michel Drach's film, "Elise Ou La Vraie Vie" (Elise, or Real Life), based on the novel by Claire Etcherelli, that brought him to the attention of French audiences.



In the 1970s, he became a director for Algerian television. In 1989, he directed "The Citadel," which was selected for over 70 international film festivals and won around twenty awards.
