Tourné après la signature des accords de paix israélo-palestiniens, ce film tente de refléter l’état de confusion qui en découle et l’idée que les palestiniens, dans la rue, se font de la paix tant souhaitée.

Haifa, qui tire son surnom de sa ville bien aimée, va et vient dans un camp de réfugiés palestinien. Bien qu’étant le fou du village, il est le seul à savoir beaucoup de choses. Il est proche de la famille d’Abu Said, un ancien policier qui attend beaucoup des changements politiques. Oum Said, sa femme, place tous ses espoirs sur la sortie imminente de prison de leur fils aîné, Said. Elle cherche une épouse pour lui assurer un avenir. Le fils cadet, Siad, est du type cynique et rebelle. Il ne croit en rien. Sabah, leur fille de douze ans, voit le futur de façon romantique et cherche ce que l’avenir lui réserve.

Dramatic and poetic insight in the mind of the Palestinian people to the background of the current political changes.

Haifa, nicknamed after the city of his love and hope, comes and goes in a Palestinian refugee camp. Although he is everybody’s fool, there are many things that only he knows. He is closely related to the family of Abu Said, a former policeman who finds new hope with the political developments. Oum Said, his wife, hangs her hope on the imminent release of their eldest son, Said, from jail. She tries to find him a bride to secure his future. Their youngest son, Siad, is cynical and rebellious. He refuses to believe in anything. Sabah, their twelve year old daughter sees the future through the eyes of a romantic, searching for what it might hold in store for her.
