Né en 1962 à Shati, dans un camp de réfugiés de la bande de Gaza (Palestine), où il a vécu jusqu’à sa majorité.
Dès l’âge de 18 ans, il commence à travailler dans le milieu du cinéma et de l’audiovisuel. Après avoir participé à l’élaboration d’une vingtaine de films, il passe à la réalisation. Ses longs métrages ou ses documentaires s’inspirent tous de sa propre expérience de la vie quotidienne en Palestine. Il fut le seul cinéaste à travailler en Palestine dans les années 80 et 90 et à décrire la vie dans les camps. Malgré la situation, il réside toujours à Ramallah afin de témoigner de la vie sous l’occupation israélienne.
Il a réalisé plusieurs courts métrages et documentaires dont « Long days in Gaza », documentaire sur la guerre du Golfe et de ses influences dans la bande de Gaza. En 1996, il fonde à Ramallah le Centre de Production et de Distribution Cinématographique ».
En 1993, il tourne son premier long métrage de fiction « Couvre-Feu ». Il réalise par la suite notamment : « Haîfa » (1995), « Saison de l’amour » (2001), « Un ticket pour Jérusalem » (2002), « Waiting » (2005), « Laila’s Birthday » (2008) et « Al Ajniha Assaghira » – « Les Petites ailes (Les anges de Bagdad, Little Wings), 2009.

Nasce nel 1962 e cresce nel campo profughi di Shati, nella striscia di Gaza. Cineasta autodidatta, comincia a lavorare nel cinema a diciotto anni. Nel 1996 fonda il Cinema Production and Distribution Center (CPC) a Ramallah, per dare la possibilità a giovani cineasti palestinesi di lavorare nella produzione audiovisiva. Il CPC apre anche il Cine Móvil, che ogni anno organizza proiezioni nei campi profughi con il Festival de Cine infantil. I suoi lavori hanno ricevuto riconoscimenti a livello internazionale, ma non per questo Rashid interrompe il suo lavoro all’interno dei territori occupati.

Rashid Masharawi lives and works in Ramallah, where he founded the Cinema Production and Distribution Center in 1996 with the aim of promoting local film productions. He also sponsors a mobile cinema, which allows him to screen films in Palestinian refugee camps.
He has directed several short films and documentaries among which « Long days in Gaza », a documentary about the Gulf war and the influence it had on the Gaza Strip. In 1993, he directs his first fiction feature « Couvre-feu ». He directed among other films: « The Shelter », (1989), « Haifa » (1996), « Waiting », (2005) and « Laila’s Birthday » (2008).

يعيش رشيد مشراوي و يعمل في رام الله، حيث أسس مركز إنتاج وتوزيع السينما في عام 1996 و هو يطمح لإنتاج الأفلام المحلية. كما يرعى سينما متنقلة تسمح له بعرض الأفلام في مخيمات اللاجئين الفلسطينيين. من بين الأفلام التي أخرجها: الملجأ 1989 حيفا 1996 الانتظار 2005 و عيد ميلاد ليلى 2008
