Hamid, la quarantaine, vit à Bruxelles et travaille comme courrier dans un réseau bancaire illégal, La Hawalla. Originaire d'Algérie où il a passé son enfance, son statut social le place en conflit perpétuel envers le monde et contre lui-même. Lorsqu'il reçoit un appel de Louis, son frère cadet qui a grandi en Suisse et qu'il n'a pas vu depuis trente-cinq ans, il croit tout d'abord à un coup monté par la police. Louis lui raconte que leur mère, également perdue de vue depuis plusieurs années, est hospitalisée en Suisse et qu'elle désire le voir. Sans pour autant surpasser sa méfiance, Hamid finira par rejoindre celui qui prétend être son frère. Zwei Brüder treffen sich mit 40 zum ersten Mal an der Beerdigung ihrer Mutter. Sie sind getrennt aufgewachsen, der eine in Algerien, der andere in Frankreich. Weil der eine radikal islamistischen Kreisen nahesteht und noch vor der Beerdigung verhaftet wird, hält er den anderen für einen Polizisten. Der Film erzählt die schwierige Annäherung dieser beiden Brüder in einem Klima von Misstrauen und Paranoia. ___________________________________ Two brothers in their forties meet for the first time at their mother's funeral.
