Il a exercé toutes sortes de métiers (boxeur, taxi driver, camionneur, pompier sur un paquebot), grâce à quoi il a gagné l’Angleterre où, aux côtés de Kitchener, Beginner et Roaring Lion, il a grandement contribué à populariser le Calypso hors du seul cercle de la communauté caraïbéenne. Rentré au pays en 1964, il est enfin couronné Calypso Monarch en 1966. Une juste récompense pour cette force de la nature dotée d’une voix d’or dont le surnom officiel est « The Golden Voice Terror ».
