Mark Bamford (writer/director) was born in Louisville, Kentucky, but raised mostly in New York. He graduated from New York University (NYU) in 1989 with a double major in French Literature and Linguistics and a minor in Anthropology. After working for several years in Los Angeles as a freelance screenwriter, Mark wrote and directed the award-winning short film Hero (2000) which won him the Atom Films « Director to Watch » Award in 2001. « Hero » sold worldwide for television and aired in the U.S. on the prestigious PBS network.
For the last three years, Mark has lived with wife, co-writer and producer Suzanne Kay, and their two children in Cape Town, South Africa. Cape of Good Hope (2004) is his first feature.
