Ben Herson

Ben Herson est le fondateur et le directeur de Nomadic Wax – un label hip-hop et société de production qui s’attache à enregistrer, documenter et présenter la musique hip-hop et underground autour du monde. Herson est aussi un musicien et producteur internationalement connu. Il a aussi sorti une douzaine d’albums globalement bien accueillis et enregistré/produit de nombreux singles sur des compilations à travers le monde. Herson a aussi joué de la batterie et des percussions pour des légendes du reggae comme Yabby U, Sugar Minott, et Glen Brown entre autres. Alors qu’il étudie la percussion ouest-africaine au Sénégal, Herson découvre une scène hip-hop à Dakar au Sénégal. Enchanté par le message politique et social des paroles des groupes, Herson commence à produire pour les meilleurs MC du Sénégal cofonde et diffuse les African Underground series of African Hip-Hop qui reçoive un bon accueil critique. En 2004, Herson a aussi co-fondé le Trinity International Hip-Hop festival, le premier festival international hip-hop libre des USA. En 2007, s’appuyant sur son travail au Sénégal, Herson développe une série documentaire en sept parties sur la jeunesse, le hip-hop, et la politique en Afrique d’Ouest intitulée « African Underground: Democracy in Dakar ». Le documentaire a été co-produit avec Sol Productions et projeté dans des lycées, universités, et festivals de films à travers les USA.

Ben Herson is the founder and director of Nomadic Wax – a global hip-hop record label and production company dedicated to record, documenting and presenting hip-hop and underground music from arounf the world. Herson is also an internationally celebrated producer and musician. He has released over a dozen globally acclaimed albums and recorded/produced numerous singles on compilations world wide. Herson has also played the drums and percussion for reggae legends Yabby U, Sugar Minott, and Glen Brown among others. While studying West African drumming in Senegal, Herson discovered a vibrant hip-hop scene in Dakar, Senegal. Enthralled by the political and social message of the groups’ lyrics, Herson began producing for Senegal’s top MCs c-founding and spearheading the critically acclaimed African Underground series of African Hip-Hop. In 2004, Herson also co-founded the Trinity International Hip-Hop festival, the first free international hip-hop festival in the United States. In 2007, building upon his work in Senegal, Herson developed a seven-part documentary series on youth, hip-hop, and politics in West Africa titled « African Underground: Democracy in Dakar. » The documentary was co-produced with Sol Productions and has been screened at colleges, universities, and film festivals across the United States.
