Pamela Yates

Pamela Yates a obtenu en 2008 une bourse de la Fondation Guggenheim. Elle est l’auteure du film « When the Mountains Tremble (Quand les montagnes tremblent) », 1983/1992, récompensé au Sundance Film Festival et la productrice de « Loss of Innocence » qui a reçu l’Emmy Award de l’Académie des arts et des sciences de la télévision américaine. Elle a en outre été la productrice exécutive de « Witness to War », récipiendaire d’un Oscar.
Au nombre de ses principaux travaux figurent « Le moment de vérité » sur la Cour Pénale Internationale et « State of fear » qui raconte l’histoire de la « lutte anti-terroriste » menée au Pérou depuis 20 ans à partir des découvertes de la commission de vérité et de réconciliation du Pérou.
Pamela a en outre produit et dirigé avec Peter Kinoy une trilogie consacrée aux mouvements de pauvres en Amérique. Enfin, elle a réalisé en 1989 « No More Disguises » avec le musicien Ciu Jian, considéré comme le premier clip musical produit en Chine et filmé place Tian’anmen à l’aube du mouvement démocratique.
Pamela est l’une des fondatrices de Skylight Pictures. Skylight Pictures entend utiliser le biais du cinéma et de la technologie numérique pour accroître la compréhension de ces thématiques par le grand public et les responsables politiques.

Pamela Yates is the recipient of a 2008 Guggenheim Fellowship. She is the Director of the Sundance Award winning « When the Mountains Tremble » (1983/1992), the Producer of the Emmy Award winning « Loss of Innocence », and the Executive Producer of the Academy Award winning « Witness to War ».
Some of her major works include « The Reckoning: The Battle for the International Criminal Court » and « State of Fear », a feature length documentary that tells the epic story of Peru’s 20-year « war on terror » based on the findings of the Peruvian Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
Pamela also produced and directed (with Peter Kinoy) a trilogy of films about poor peoples’ movements in America. She directed what is thought to be the first music video made in China, « No More Disguises », with troubadour Ciu Jian, which was filmed in Tiananmen Square at the dawn of the democracy movement.
Pamela is a co-founder of Skylight Pictures. Through the use of film and digital technologies, the Skylight Pictures team seeks to engage, educate and increase understanding of human rights amongst the public at large and policy makers, contributing to informed decisions on issues of social change and the public good.
