Maharaki est une réalisatrice, scénariste, productrice et artiste peintre.

Elle est connue pour INNOCENTS (2002, Réalisatrice), DIG IT (2003, Réalisatrice), HOLDING ON (2006, Réalisatrice), VIVRE (2007, Réalisatrice), UN ACHAT COMPULSIF (2011, Réalisatrice), JOCELYNE, MI TCHE MWEN (2017, Réalisatrice), PROJET H (2020, Réalisatrice).

Elle est née et a grandi en Martinique.
Diplômée d’un « Bachelor in Fine Arts – Audio Visual & Film Production » obtenu en 2004 à l’EICAR (Ecole Internationale de Création Audiovisuelle et de Réalisation de Paris), Maharaki réalise son premier court-métrage en 2002. Le film intitulé INNOCENTS participe à des Festivals Internationaux de Cinéma tels que le FESPACO 2003 au Burkina Faso et Vues d’Afrique au Québec.

En 2004, dans le cadre de la manifestation de clôture de promotion de son école de cinéma, Maharaki remporte, le « Grand Prix du Jury » pour la réalisation de son court métrage DIG IT.
Décerné à la cinémathèque de Paris et remis par le réalisateur Oliver STONE, le prix consacre un court-métrage drôle dont le rôle principal est tenu par l’acteur Edouard MONTOUTE qui a remporté le « Prix de l’interprétation masculine » pour sa performance dans le rôle de Lucien Edouard. Ce prix est le seul qu’Edouard MONTOUTE ait obtenu à ce jour.
En 2006, Maharaki réalise, pour la société RAIN WARRIOR PROD, le moyen métrage HOLDING ON, lauréat du Grand Prix du Barbados National Cultural Foundation.

En février 2007, Maharaki reçoit la « 1ère Mention du Prix Lumina Sophie » concours de scénario organisé par l’association Créole en Court. Ce prix décerné pour son scénario intitulé VIVRE, lui est remis au Palais des Congrès de Madiana par Mme Arlette PUJAR
pour le compte du Conseil Général de la Martinique. En 2010, le clip TO THE OTHER SIDE que Maharaki réalise pour l’artiste INDRANI est
nominé au Barbados Music Awards dans la catégorie Meilleur clip de l’année. La même année, son film INNOCENTS reçoit la mention spéciale du jury du Festival EKOCLAP en Martinique.
En 2011, Maharaki remporte le « Prix du Public » et la « Mention Spéciale du jury pour l’humour » au festival Prix de Court pour son court-métrage UN ACHAT COMPULSIF, un film réalisé et monté en 48h, avec une caméra et un ordinateur, sans budget et sans aucun acteur professionnel.

Basée à Barbade, Maharaki produit et réalise clips vidéo, publicités, reportages & émissions TV. Elle manage régulièrement des tournages pour des productions étrangères ce qui l’a conduite à travailler avec des stars comme RIHANNA & SHONTELLE ou de grandes marques internationales de produits cosmétiques ou alimentaires.

Ne perdant pas de vue ses rêves de cinéma, Maharaki parcourt le monde, durant l’année 2014, avec son 4è court-métrage, VIVRE, sélectionné à plus d’une cinquantaine de festivals et récompensé de 11 prix en moins d’un an.

Fin 2017, Maharaki réalise son premier long-métrage documentaire, JOCELYNE, MI TCHE MWEN. Produit par Riddim Production et coproduit par Canal+ Antilles et Canal+ Guyane, le portrait intimiste et touchant de la chanteuse Jocelyne BEROARD, seul membre féminin du légendaire groupe KASSAV’, a remporté plusieurs prix et a profondément ému le grand public.

Courant 2020, Maharaki réalise et produit PROJET H, un court-métrage tourné en une nuit et post produit en confinement. Le film inspiré d’une blague antillaise questionne avec dérision l’impérialisme américain ainsi que la capacité des pays sous domination à prendre en main leur destin. PROJET H a fait l’objet de plusieurs sélections officielles dont celle du Reel Sisters film festival & lectures Series, premier festival qualifiant aux Oscars pour les femmes de Couleurs.

Maharaki travaille activement à la production de son premier long-métrage de fiction, une comédie, dont le tournage est prévu en Martinique.

A multitalented award-winning artist, Maharaki is a Film director, screenwriter, producer and Visual Artist.

She is Town for INNOCENTS (2002, Director), DIG IT (2003, Director), HOLDING ON (2006, Réalisatrice), VIVRE (2007, Director), UN ACHAT COMPULSIF (2011, Réalisatrice), JOCELYNE, MI TCHE MWEN (2017, Director), PROJET H (2020, Director).

Born and raised in Martinique, Maharaki presently lives in Barbados.
She studied « Visual Arts and Fine Arts Techniques » at L’Ecole Regionale d’Arts Visuels de la Martinique and Interior Design at the
Barbados Community College.
She graduated in 2004 from the Ecole Internationale de Création Audiovisuelle & de Réalisation (EICAR) in Paris. She received her
Bachelor of Fine arts Motion Picture Directing from the European
Accreditation Board of Higher Education
Schools (E.A.B.H.E.S) in London.

The painter
Between 1998 and 2004, Maharaki participates in 3 collective exhibits, presents 5 solo exhibits and organizes a performance in the streets of Fort-de-France, the capital of Martinique. She contributes
her artistic talents to numerous projects for the Children’s Rights Defense Association « Enfance & Partage » and twice to the Martinique annual carnival festival. In February 2003, she is invited to exhibit in Portugal during the Martinique week at Leer Devagar Bookstore in Lisbon.
In December 2004, Maharaki organizes and shows her work in a marathon exhibition incorporating 250 pieces of art from 56 artists. 5000€ of the sales from the event were donated to « Telethon »
(Genetic Research Foundation). Throughout the years, her paintings have been acquired by international buyers and spread all around the world. (Martinique, France, England, Tahiti, Barbados, Portugal, U.S.A…)

The filmmaker
In 2002, she directs her first short film entitled, INNOCENTS. This film
is nominated in several international film festivals, such as the 2003 FESPACO in Burkina Faso and « Vues d’Afrique, 2003 » in
Quebec.
In 2004, she is awarded the Grand Jury Prize of her film school’s annual showcase for the directing of her short film, DIG IT. The film also receives the award for « Best Acting Performance ». Maharaki receives her prize at « La Cinémathèque de Paris » before a panel of 15 international TV and motion picture professionals, including the guest of honor, American director, Oliver
Stone. As a result ofthis award, DIG IT is recognized officially by a number of film festivals around the world. In April 2006, Maharaki is invited to return to Barbados to direct the Barbados National Cultural
Foundation’s award winning script, HOLDING ON. Immediately on her return to Barbados in March, she directs « The Rihanna Behind the Scenes photo shoot » for the American magazine, In Style.
Years later, the music video « TO THE OTHER SIDE », she directed for the artist Indrani, is nominated at the 2011 Barbados Music Awards in the category « Music video of the year ».
In 2011 her short film, « Un achat compulsif » translated « A Compulsive Purchase » wins the Audience Prize and Special Jury Mention for Humour at The Festival Prix de Court.
The film was shot & edited in 48 hours with no other equipment but a small handycam and a laptop, no professional actor and no financial support.

Based in Barbados, Maharaki freelances throughout the Caribbean, directing music videos, advertisements and short TV formats. She is regularly solicited to assist overseas productions, which led her to work with music stars such as Rihanna and Shontelle.

Pursuing her dreams of cinema, Maharaki has just completed her much anticipated film, VIVRE, produced by Arts & Vision Produc
tions Guadeloupe), Rock Rose (Martinique), and Nomades Productions (Martinique). The film received the support of several institutions such as The Regional Councils of Martinique and Guadeloupe, the Martinique Tourism Authority, the Ministry of Cultural
and Communication, Le Centre National du Cinema et de l’image animée… The script won « Le Prix Lumina Sophie 2007 », the film project was presented at the 2012 Cannes film festival.

VIVRE was officially released in September 2013 in London.
To his date VIVRE has won 4 awards, that are the « FEMI dans les murs » at the FEMI in Guadeloupe, the « Grand Jury Prize » at the Bahamas International Film Festival, the « Second Jury Prize » at Ciné
Global in Dominican Republic, and the « Audience Award » at the festival « Courts des îles » in Tahiti.
Maharaki is currently preparing her first feature film.
